When the sky is clear in Anchorage, you can actually see not one, but six mountain ranges.
The Alaska, Aleutian, Chugach, Kenai, Talkeetna and Tordrillo ranges. Mountain climbing anyone?

Anchorage’s First Hospital Being Constructed
Notice the two buildings in front, still waiting for roofs to be added.
Did You Know?
Way back in 1915 while Anchorage was just a rough “tent City”, it was also a company town that sprang up on the Ship Creek flats because of the railroad.
The first hospital that was being constructed in 1915 was only for railroad employees.
The picture above is Anchorage’s Providence Hospital in 1939, just two years after it first opened.
Lots of our Anchorage Memories VIP North Stars were either born there, had friends or family who were born there, delivered a baby or had surgery there.
Mike of Anchorage Memories had his brother Tom and his sister Sybil born there. And Mary of Anchorage Memories was born there as were some of her brothers and sisters.

Over 95 percent of all the freight entering the entire state of Alaska, goes through the Port of Anchorage?
It looks a lot different now than it did in 1915 when steam ships delivered passengers to the mouth of Ship Creek and the tent city that would become Anchorage.

Black Bears and Moose and Wildlife Oh My
Did You Know?
The Summer moose population within urban Anchorage and the surrounding area is around 250.
That number goes up to around 1,500 moose in the winter.
Did you ever call in to work to say “I’m gunna be late because there is a moose at my front door, or blocking my driveway?

Not to be outdone, there are around 250 Black bears and Grizzly bears that live within the Anchorage area.

Do you recognize this Anchorage building?
At the time it served Anchorage, it was the only one in town.
It’s Anchorage High School and a number of our Anchorage Memories VIP North Stars attended school there.
The school was located at 6th and F street and first opened on January 28, 1939.
